I am a professional landscape photographer working in the Great Lakes. I teach workshops, share my adventures and process on YouTube, and host the Lakescape Photography Podcast. My heart calls me to the wilderness, where I spend as much time as I can, whenever I can. I frequent Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and the many incredible landscapes of Lake Superior.

My philosophy is simple: Experience first, photos second. It guides my photography and allows me to enjoy my love of the outdoors and crafting photographs simultaneously. My work serves to showcase the beauty of the natural landscapes that define this region, and invite others to experience the same.

What is Led by Light?

I write about my raw experience as a landscape photographer. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Transparency has always been a cornerstone of my approach in teaching others. I enjoy helping others just as much as I love being outdoors doing photography. This combined passion inspires me to always attempt to teach something about photography or share what I have learned in my journey.

Led by Light is my ethos, my guiding principle in the field. It is all about the light! It is the purpose of this blog and associated newsletter to focus on this aspect of photography and its relationship with the elements of powerful story telling.
